We know and understand that visiting a church can be stressful, and meeting new people can be intimidating. We want to help make your visit and experience at Crucible a great one.
When you arrive at the church lobby, you will be greeted warmly by our Welcome Team, and help you with name tags, registration for parking, and whether you'd like our pastor to follow up with you with a cup of coffee or a meal to get to know each other better. Our amazing volunteers will do everything they can to help you get settled, and comfortable.
You can expect to be warmly greeted upon your arrival by our Welcome Team, and by our pastor. Service begins at 11am in room 309 on the 3rd Floor of Trinity Western University (link above in red). We begin with a word of prayer by the pastor, and opening prayer followed by a time of singing.
After praising God in song is done, we transition to a time of congregational prayer, and then some announcements are made of some events to look forward to in the life of the church. After announcements are done, we have a moment where we invite people to greet one another. During this time, kids are released for Kids Church.
There will be a reading of Scripture for the morning, and then the sermon is given by our pastor. The response to the sermon is led by our worship team with a song, and then the benediction (a benediction is simply a blessing given to the people) is followed after that. There will be a moment of silent prayer for personal response to God to conclude our service.
Kids are to be picked up when the service is done in Room 313 where Kids Church is held.
Here are some common questions that might be asked. We're here to do our best to help you have the best experience in your visit at Crucible. You can visit our What To Expect page for more detailed FAQ's.
Worship services start at 11am. However, we encourage guests coming for the first time, to arrive 15 min beforehand to register their vehicles, be given a brief tour of the facility (i.e. where are the washrooms, where is Kids Church if you have kids, etc), register for a name tag.
In total, service at Crucible is about 75-90 minutes long (1.5 hours). Service begins with Crucible's worship band leading the church in music - song lyrics are projected onto the screens so that you can sing along or engage with the worship however you feel most comfortable.
Sundays at Crucible are friendly, casual and relaxed. Come as you are, and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.
We believe that kids should have a blast at church every single week - and at Crucible - we make this our priority.

My experience at Crucible Church is a priceless treasure that I hold close to my heart, a direct answer from God. When I arrived in Vancouver over two years ago, knowing no one in Richmond and with just a week in the country, I prayed for a place to worship. God led me to this church, where I was welcomed with open arms and embraced as a blessing from the very first moment. Throughout this time, I have been deeply blessed by being part of Crucible Church. Pastor Sam has been an instrument of God in my life, supporting me in countless ways and various circumstances. The Word of God in Psalm 133:1 says, "How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity," this perfectly describes the harmony and peace I feel as part of this exceptional community.
My family and I enjoy coming to church every week. Pastor Sam and the church community are warm, friendly and welcoming. We appreciate the intimate setting that is created in this smaller community to worship, and connect with God and each other. The people there are genuine and kind. It was important for our family to find a church where we felt at home, and one which also had a good children’s program so we could all grow in our faith journey. My children are remembering worship songs and Biblical lessons, and Pastor Sam’s messages always keeps it real and applicable. He challenges us to think and reflect, and to strengthen our understanding and relationship with Christ. It is good for people in all walks of their Christian faith.
I've been attending Crucible since late 2022, and I can't express how grateful I am to have found this community. I really do feel the warmth and genuine openness of the people here....After three years of being church-less due to various life circumstances, I was hesitant to return to a church environment. However, Crucible welcomed me with open arms, helping me overcome my shyness and anxiety. The growth I've experienced since joining is truly remarkable - from joining one of the small groups the church offers to reading scripture aloud during services, I really feel I've come a long way. To anyone considering Crucible, I wholeheartedly encourage you to connect with us. Whether you're seeking a welcoming community, a chance to grow spiritually, or simply a place to call home, you'll find it here.
